Printable Worksheets for Reading Homer’s Iliad

This student worksheet pack provides eight ready-to-use activities for reading and studying Homer’s Iliad. The worksheets move from introductory questions and character identification to close examination of Achilles, Hector, Patroclus, the gods, the heroic code, and the poem’s final encounter between Priam and Achilles.

Students are asked not simply to recall what happens, but to consider why characters act as they do, identify evidence from the text, compare important figures, and explore central ideas such as honor, glory, shame, grief, mortality, and compassion.

Teachers may use the complete packet alongside a reading of the Iliad or select individual worksheets to accompany particular books or topics.
